From helping each other put on graduation caps to washing our hair in a tiny sink (no showers), this past week in DC has shown us more about the strength, courage, determination and simply the friendship that develops while working for our DREAMS to become reality. Two days in Washington DC can change someone’s life. I saw it myself. I saw my own van members transform their stories from “I know someone who is undocumented” to “I AM undocumented”. It started out slow of course, at first some members of my team were hesitant to share their stories, a few who were US citizens felt they had nothing to offer, while others who are undocumented were unsure if openly stating it was exactly the right thing to do, but this trip has shown them that we have been too scared for too long. This is the time to stand up and proudly say it “I AM UNDOCUMENTED”.

Join One Michigan for a : Mass Mobilization to D.C
The time to act to pass the DREAM Act is now.
Over the last year we have made great gains fighting for the DREAM Act. We have managed to convince 40 senators and 124 representatives to co-sponsor the DREAM Act, giving us their commitment to move forward with the bill.
All of this is great news. It means that we are close to getting the DREAM this year; it means that all of our work has been paying off.
But we must also not forget years past, we have been here before. In 2007 we had the same opportunity to pass the DREAM Act, however we were not able to convince our legislators that taking a gamble on us would pay off. This year has to be different. This year we have to show our legislators that they have no choice but to pass the DREAM Act.
We know youth are ready to take action. We know you are all ready to fight and take a last stand for what you believe in and so we are asking that you join us in Washington D.C. for three days of escalating action.
