Stop Ola Kaso’s Deportation!

13

Sign the Petition Ola was brought to the United States when she was just 4 years old and has lived in Detroit, Michigan ever since. Despite having lived in the United States for fourteen years, she is currently fighting her deportation to a country she no longer remembers.

Ola and her mother, Violeta, came to the United States from Albania in 1998 and immediately applied for asylum. They lost their asylum case as a result of the negligence of their immigration attorney, when he failed to file court papers necessary for the family to get approved. On March 28th, 2011, Ola and Violeta were going to a routine visit with the immigration office in Michigan, when they were arrested and detained.

Ola will be graduating this year from Cousino High School and wishes to continue with her education and has been accepted to several universities, including University of Michigan’s Honors College. She is an exceptional student, having excelled in school since she was young. She currently holds a 4.4 grade point average, is a star athlete, and is the treasurer of the National Honor Society at Cousino High School. She also volunteers by tutoring students who are struggling to become proficient in English.

Ola would qualify for the DREAM Act, a narrowly tailored bill that majorities in both the House and th Senate voted to support this past December. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and President Obama have both stated that deporting DREAM-eligible youth is not a priority. We ask that you immediately take action to stop Ola’s deportation so she can continue to contribute to her community.

Violeta is a respected member of her community and a proud business owner as well as home owner for the last 10 years. She currently employs over 10 people at her bakery in Centerline, MI. Violeta has never had any problems with the law and has been an upstanding citizen since her arrival in this country. Violeta’s sister, Lindita Roberts (U.S. Citizen for over 10 years) has filed a petition for alien relative on her behalf with the USCIS office and is now pending.

If deported, Ola and Violeta would be returned to a country they no longer consider their home. This exceptional student and hard-working mother need your help. Please take action to stop their deportation.

Please stop her deportation as well as return another deported Albanian family to the US. We can’t afford to lose these outstanding citizens.  My former student was also a U of M freshman when her family, who had been here on political asylum, were sent back to very bad conditions.

Sigurisht qe e mban mend Shqiperine, por rrethanat e detyrojne te sillet ne kete menyre per te fituar simpati. Shpresoj te mos e deportojne se nuk eshte e drejte. Megjithate, ajo s’duhet ta mohoje prejardhjen e saj, sepse do apo s’do ajo eshte pjese e identitetit te saj. Se pari duhet te filloje me shqiptimin e sakte te emrit te saj Ola, jo Olla.

doesn’t matter how old you are. if your not a US CITIZEN THEN GO HOME!!! its not fair for you to go to college free in our country while we foot the bill! You are no different than all the other immigrants here illegally.

    • Jennifersmith

WOW you are a very ignorant person. How in the world does she go to college for free? And how are you paying for her in any way? Her family has built a wonderful life here and I bet they are much better off than you. Do not hate on other intelligent people because you were born here and still can not make it.

      • M Mancini0323

i work for Dod. She is living off my tax dollars. Perhaps you need some more education. I’m tired of paying for you immigrants who get welfare, come to our county illegally and then talk about how great your country is. Then GO HOME. Sick of seeing you foreigners every where i go. ARABS, Albanians. Go to Albania or wherever your from. Finish your education there!!

        • Avi

Working for DoD does not automatically afford you wisdom and intellect. Educated and driven people like Ola make America a better place. If immigration policy can be modified to accommodate her and other bright students, so be it. Immigration laws are not enshrined in Constitution and are subject to change. For you own sake, not be so bitter; it is enslaving.

        • L

working for DoD means you’re being paid on taxpayers’ money asshole…and since you can’t do a proper job preventing further terrorist attack on this country it seems we are wasting our money on trash like you

  • Avi

Ola, shpresoj ta kapercesh kete pengese sa me shpejt. Gjithe te mirat e dashur.

  • Elona

I was in the same situation as this girl and guess what ? I went back to Albania and came back within 2 years… I don’t think she should get special privileges…Sorry :/

    • L

How could you be so bitter?…That is an awful sight of humanity ….

  • Emilianoq

Ola, good luck and dont read all the comments here. Some are annoying even the albanian one’s. Just pursue your dream and I bet I will see something great out of you, soon!
